ASTM A182 F316L Socket Weld Flange Introduction
ASTM A182 F316L Socket Weld Flange is a high-performance flange forged from austenitic stainless steel 316L material. Containing low carbon (≤0.03%), 316L stainless steel maintains excellent corrosion resistance while effectively preventing intergranular corrosion, making it highly suitable for welding applications.
Socket weld flanges are typically used for connecting small-diameter, high-pressure pipelines. Their structural feature involves an internal socket into which the pipe end is inserted for welding. The weld seam is positioned along the outer circumference of the flange, ensuring high connection strength and sealing integrity.
Dimension Inspection
Outer Diameter (OD)
Measure the overall outer diameter of the flange using a vernier caliper/OD caliper to ensure it conforms to standards, facilitating proper connection with piping systems and bolted joints.
Inner Diameter (ID)
Measure the inner bore diameter of the flange with a vernier caliper to guarantee compatibility with the connected pipe’s outer diameter, preventing improper installation.
Thickness (T)
Measure the flange thickness using a vernier caliper or micrometer to confirm the flange’s pressure-bearing capacity meets requirements and ensures safety.
Bolt Holes
Verify the number matches the standard to ensure proper bolt installation and guarantee stable flange connection.
Sealing Surface (Raised Face / RF)
Diameter: Measure the diameter of the sealing surface to ensure sealing effectiveness and prevent leakage.
